Starbluff Cafe is Brewing up Leaders

By: Erin McFry

The Student Government Association’s Starbluff Cafe is once again filling the Friday hallways with tantalizing smells of hot and cold coffees to the delight of students and staff alike.

This year, they have already added a new item:  a frappe.

The idea came from a school Warner Smith, SGA sponsor, worked at previous to Cedar Bluff.

“While I was teaching at Woodland HIghschool, the library had a coffee shop and it benefits more than SGA,” said Smith.

SGA provides students with representation, services and advocacy, within school structure.

Moreover, involvement enhances the leadership qualities of not only officers but also the student body alike.  What is especially significant about Cedar Bluff’s SGA is that through Starbluff’s, students take on entrepreneur roles as they operate the coffee shop.

While this is a main perk to the entire staff and student body, it also serves as a large and profitable fundraiser for SGA every week.  The sales fund the SGAs worthy causes all year long.

“Sales pay for Christmas for Kids, help other clubs, and send us to the Jacksonville State Regional SGA Conference,” said Smith.

From Hot Kat to chilled Kool Kat and everything in between, students make Fridays special by getting through their morning with a coffee.

The new frappe has been the star of the Starbluff Cafe on this year’s menu.  Available in caramel and chocolate, the frappe is a frozen version of the Kool Kat, designed to keep drinks colder longer without getting watered down.

Whether it is a luscious hot chocolate, a new crisp frappe, or the old standard, the original rich caramel or chocolate Kool Kat, stopping by the Starbluff is the perfect way to start Fridays at Cedar Bluff.
